The girls love the trip to the San Antonio Zoo every year. It is one of the most fun activities we do on our trip. I love to watch papa and the girls at the petting zoo.

The anual trip to San Antoino has become my favorite family vacation. This year andrew,bethany and leto joined us in meeting my parents at RAFB. We cram an ubelieveable amount of stuff into this trip, swimming at the pool on base as well as in the backyard at nona's "san antonio house" mexican food, mexican food, mecian food, EZ's, shopping, the river walk, church (to hear the infamous max lacado) and of course the zoo. Yesterday was my 28 week check up and our 4d ultrasound. It was pretty special that naomi got to join me for the event. She is really understanding that we are having a baby and talks about her sister all the time. Unfortuately this is a tiny picture cause I cannot fiugre out how to make it bigger.... but here is the first official 4d photo of baby girl #3. She is scheduled to be delievered by C-Section on October 22, at about 8:30 am. At the time of the ultrasound they thought she weighted about 3 1/2 lbs. We will go back for a second 4d ultra sound on the 29th of this month because this is the only good shot the sonographer could get of her. She did not want to put her hands down from her face. Hopefully in a few weeks she will be a little more "photogenic"

Pops concert and Fireworks!

Fourth of July is probably my favorite holiday. I have the best memories of the 4th from my childhood. Watching the fireworks in Washington DC on the steps of the capital, pops concerts at Carney Park in Naples Italy, and numerous celebrations at Air Force Bases all over the world. For such a "small west Texas town" San Angelo does a bang up job on the fourth. The San Angelo symphony puts on a pops concert on the 3rd of July. It is a fabulous celebration drawing crowds of up to 60,000 people. Making it the 3rd largest 4th of July celebration in the state. On the actual 4th of July the city does a fireworks display at lake Nasworthy as well as colts stadium. This year we went to the pops concert with Ryan's sister Amy and her family, a friend of Amy's from nursing school and Russ ... Ryan's boss at Dyncorp who is now officially part of the family as the girls have deemed him "uncle Russ" Here are some of the best pictures from our weekend.

Festival on the Concho 2008

We recently went to the Festival on the Concho River here in town. It has become a family favorite. This year my good friend angela and her daughter lauran joined the girls and I. There are tons of activities for the kids to do at the festival. One of my favorites in the hot air balloon lift that kicks off the weekend event at 7am on Saturday morning. It is amazing to watch the 8-10 balloons fill with hot air and then fly away. After the hot air balloon lift we got breakfast burritos and walked down to the festival. They have a great kids fair with a petting zoo, face paint, carnival booths, jump houses, and all kinds of food, just about everything you can think of. On the way back to the car we found a great spot to take the kids pictures... hope you enjoy!

I thought I had lost all of our Easter pictures but I found them hidden on my laptop. We had Easter at our house this year with all of Ryan's family. We did the traditional HEB brisket, potato salad, beans, cobbler ect. Then we let the kids hunt for Easter eggs in the front yard. It was FREEZING COLD! but the kids has a great time. The USAF Thunderbirds came to visit San Angelo in mid March. It was AWESOME. I have always loved airshows... I guess that comes with being an Air Force kid. I have never seen so many people on Kickerbacher road! It was backed up all the way to the loop. People had parked on the side of the road for miles to get a view of the show without actually dealing with all of the people at the airport. My sister in law, her kids, and Naomi and I braved the crowds and even ran into De Dad at the show. It was so much fun and brought back so many happy childhood memories from when I was growing up with my parents. It was definitely an experience though to brave and air show as a civilian. I gained a whole new appreciation for the VIP treatment we used to get when dad was the base commander! Thanks Dad!

With Naomi's birthday money from Ma Ma and Nona and Papa we redecorated the girls room . We had not really done anything to make the room theirs since moving into our new house last April. The girls got a new bed frame and a new bed spread and of course the darling new "papa bears". It is the picture perfect "little girls room" I am so excited and proud for them. Next on the list: a new carpet, a new curtain to match the bedspread and updated picture frames and the new room will be COMPLETE!

So believe it or not Naomi turned 4 today. I can't believe she is growing so fast. That phrase seemed so cliche just a few years ago and now I know what it truly means. Naomi's big wish for her birthday was a princess cake and a scooter. She was very blessed by family who love her dearly. She received so many wonderful things. She got her birthday wish about the scooter and the princess cake ... and also many other wonderful gifts: a new bed from my parents, precious "papa" bears from build a bear, a new bed spread from mama, and books from mama and aunt rena. Her cousin's jaden and leto made her a sweet card... it has been a wonderful day hope you enjoy the pictures

Every year it is a tradition in Ryan's family that we go over to his mothers house and decorate the Christmas tree. *a little known family fact: the very first year Ryan and I dated he took me home to San Angelo for the night for this event. It was the first time that I met his mom, step dad, his sister and her soon to be husband Eric and my nieces sierra and megan. * Our families have both grown since then with the addition of new children in each family. It is so special that every year this tradition continues.

These are the official photo's taken by the USAF photogropher from my dad's promotion ceremony to General (that means 4 stars) The ceremony was on January 9th at the Pentegon in the Hall of Heros. It was an unbeleiveable ceremony. It was amazing to see the support my parents got from friends both military and civilian, church friends and family. I was so glad to get to be there on such a momentous occasion in my dads career. We got to have a guided tour of the 9/11 memorial which was heart wrenching. It was a once in a life time event that is for sure!

All of the children are encouraged to invite family and speical friends to the lunch and to see a speical childrens program beforehand. This year MeMaw was able to come and join us. Dear Family and Friends,

I received some very sad news today regarding a friend and member of our church home. Here is what the email said...

" Please be in prayer for Neil Justice and his wife Jana and their sweet girls, Lauren and Maddie. Neil has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. He is still undergoing some testing at this point. Please pray for this sweet young family as they work through this difficult time in the lives"

Neil is a deacon at our church. He and his wife Jana both attended ACU... in fact Jana was even on my hall freshman year. They have two precious girls the oldest daughter Lauren is in my Sunday morning bible class. She is 2 years old. Her younger sister Maddie is 1. Please pray for this wonderful family. Pray that God will heal Neil and that HE will give Jana the strength and support that she needs to care for her children and husband.

For those of you who do not know Ryan's grandfather John Decker passed away on November 18, 2007. He was 82 years old and had been ill with Alzheimers. Before his passing we had scheduled a family trip to Kansas for thanksgiving to meet Andrew's new family and to have one last chance to all be together before the big Brady move. We were fortunate enough to find "good" airfare so that the girls and I were able to go visit and still be home to support Ryan and the rest of our family here. We arrived in Kansas early Tuesday and returned home early thanksgiving morning.
My parents flew in on Wednesday afternoon just in time for an early thanksgiving dinner with most of Bethany's family. It was a short but wonderful visit.

Ryan and I just had our 4th wedding anniversary on November 1st. My sweet husband sent me these beautiful flowers. Four years in the scheme of a lifetime does not seem like so long...but it is amazing to look back and see what all we have been through in just those few years...moves x3, new jobs, two kids, and new house, a dog, a cat... so we will go out to dinner just the two of us ( a rare and speicial occasion in our home)to celebrate!

We had a great time this year trick or treating with our good friends the Raney's and their kids. We get together often with the Raney's and our kids have become fast friends. It was so fun to see the kids all dressed up and excited about the holiday. The Raney kids are all dressed from the Wizard of Oz and my kidos are of course zoo animals.

We recently made a trip to Waco to see my mom, aunt Rena, Ma Ma and a good portion of the Mansfield crew. We had a wonderful visit! We all met for lunch at On the Border and then headed to Aunt Beth and Uncle Mike's house to visit. It was so nice to see family we have not seen in so long. I was glad that the girls got to see Ma Ma and aunt Rena it has been over a year since we had seen them. It felt great to be back in Waco with the Mansfield's and made me a little sad that we no longer lived there so close to that part of our family. Unfortunately I neglected to charge my camera batteries before I left and only got a few pictures of the girls with my mom and Paw Paw Field. My mom who is well know in our family for her Kodak disposable camera saved the day... but I do not yet have those pictures to post....

Lanie's 1st bath after surgery

One of the best things about learning that Lanie has completely healed from her ear surgery is the return to our regular bath time routine! After her surgery she was not allowed to get ANY water in her ears at all. This made bath time very difficult (ex specially for a child who swims like a fish!) I was so excited when the ENT said she could bathe and swim without ear plugs and as you can see from the following pictures Lanie was equally excited!

Here is the begining of a running list of the new, wonderful and sometimes very weird things I am learning about my children.....and all the strange things they say

1. Naomi hates onions... she will not eat them. She has become very good at finding them in many dishes I cook :)

2. Nutrigrain bars in our house have been renamed "bar-b". why? I do not know!... I cannot explain it. I do know that the girls LOVE them and would eat the whole box if I let them.

3. Lanie is not a meat eater. She will eat everything on her plate but 9 times out of 10 the meat is still there at the end of the meal.

4. Lanie loves mashed potatoes and stuffing! these have quickly become her favorite foods.

5. My children love to chat on the web cam! Exspecially to meredith

Halloween is just about two and a half weeks away! The girls are so excited exspecially Naomi. This year I let her pick out her own Halloween costume and she choose to be a giraffe. Specifically she said " I want the giraffe, Lanie want the zebra" I am sure I will be the designated zoo keeper... a very fitting costume for me since that is my primary job in life already... LOL! I have hidden the costumes high up in my closet in an attempt to ward of the endless requests to wear their costumes now....so to hold them over till the big day.... Halloween pj's of course :)

Rattle Snake Park

Ryan had the day off on Monday for Columbus day so we took a family outing to the park. The girls had a great time with their daddy. As seen by our most recent experiences with Lanie... she is our adventurous child. It seems she has no fear and knows no limits. At the park lanie loves to swing. She would swing for hours if we would let her. She can also be found climbing... and I can often be found running after her screaming "Lanie be careful!" She has a sweet spirit and has a natural talent for making us all laugh.

Naomi loves to play with Ariel in the pool and pretend they are mermaids together... her imagination is growing so fast. Playing pretend is a daily activity at our house. You might think Lanie would be scared of the water but she is fearless.... a regular fish! She loves to swim and splash and dump water out of cups. The girls have so much fun playing together. they are such a joy to watch.

4th of july

I love the 4th of July it has always been a favorite holiday of mine. San Angelo does an awesome job at the 4th exspecially for such a small west Texas town. We actually have the fourth largest 4th of July celebration in the state, drawing a crowd of about 35000 people.

The celebration really begins on the 3rd with the San Angelo symphony pops concert. This is by far my favorite event. In fact I love it so much that I have joined the rest of the "crazies" in San Angelo and annually participate in the "running of the tarps" (see above blog for an in depth discussion of this event). The pops concert includes these exciting events: the posting of the colors by goodfellow afb, a b-1 fly bye from Abilene.... numerous cannons blasts from the cannons at fort concho (brought over for the event) and of course patriotic music and fireworks.

So here is a great group picture ( minus me and D-dad) of us at the pops concert. On the 4th of July me maw invited all the family in town over for hamburgers, swimming for the kids in the back yard and of course homemade ice cream. We had a wonderful time. After supper we all headed over to the San Angelo colts stadium to see the fireworks.

Well, Heidi is here.... she is our new 7 week old German Shepherd puppy. For those of you who know me well, you understand what a major life event this is as I am not a "dog person." She will be daddy's dog as he will be responsible for the pooper scooper duty. (ha ha ha) Heidi was delivered all the way from San Antonio TX by my old high school friend Liz. She will grow up to be our family protector and companion....The Daddy and the girls are having a wonderful time playing with her...and ok yes, me too.... guess that's why they call it puppy love

So last weekend was one of my favorite times in San Angelo .... Fiesta on the Concho .... I took the girls down on Friday night to have a look at what was all there this year...found a pony ride, a petting zoo, ran into some friends from church and watched some model boat races .... Saturday Lanie decided to wake up at 5:30 so the girls and I all got up and went to see them launch the hot air balloons at 7:30 in the morning which was AWESOME! the girls loved it and so did I... ran in to Me maw and D-dad ( Ryan's mom and step dad)...we walked around the frontier day stuff at fort concho.... went to the framers market and then back to the fiesta to ride that pony, pet those baby bunnies at the petting zoo and of course eat a couple hot dogs....

We just finished the most wonderful visit with my parents (Nona and Papa). Mom came down a few day's before dad. She had a most chaotic flight due to flight cancellations, missed connections, and of course the infamous detour to Waco ( she will be glad to share the story with those who ask I am sure) HA! The trip to Waco brought a much welcome visit from aunt Beth and uncle Mike and of course lunch at the old time pit bar-b-que. Mom and I spent the next few days hitting all the shops (Tuesday morning, bed bath and beyond and EVERY furniture store in town) The girls had a wonderful time being with Nona and were good little shoppers. Evenings were spent going on walks around the neighborhood and watching all those movies Nona brought. Late Friday night Papa arrived after his speaking engagement at OU. Saturday was full of more errand running (hobby lobby, home depot Kirkland's) and then lunch with Christa and Carl. Sunday we had a chance to take my parents to our home church and introduce them to our Johnson Street family there. Not only did my parents visit bring wonderful time spent together but a very early Christmas for the Kaufman's.... thank you Nona and Papa!

Finally we are Home owners!

So here is my first attempt at the world of blogging....we have just bought our first home. We are so glad to be home owners and gladly pay our mortgage each month :) We now spend most of our weekends doing "home improvement projects " as I am sure most home owners do. I have found I enjoy working in the yard (who would of guessed!) Ryan has compleatly redone our master bath room.... which now looks wonderful! The girls for now are sharing a room and a double bed.
